Help Crowdfund Ghoul Girls!

Ghoul Girls is now crowdfunding for equipment, makeup and more on Indie Go Go! If you have ever wanted to contribute or help  with Ghoul Girls now is your chance.

Our Story

Ghoul Girls got it’s roots around 2007, I wondered how I could mix a few of my favorite things (Horror, Pin-Up, Photography) to make something very different and very unique. The idea was there and after a lot of brain eating… err, I mean brain storming the first official photo shoot happened in October 2008. Ghoul Girls was an experiment that started growing into an even larger monster (pun intended).

It started out with a handful of creative people as a way to expand on their skills as photographers, makeup artists and models. Over time I began buying more and more cheap equipment just to keep growing. This year Ghoul Girls finally became a registered company and in the past we have self published a 2009 and 2011 calendar, but we are working towards being able to publish one each year on top of put together a coffee table book with past and future photo sets.

We are VERY creative people, but there is only so much that work lamps, shop lights, *plastic wrap (doesn’t look like intestines), broken camera equipment (poor camera) and homemade “It kind of looks like brains” makeup (*see plastic wrap) can get you and that is where you come in!

The Impact

Every person that works on Ghoul Girls find themselves growing and improving on their craft, be it makeup, photography or modeling. We tend to refer our models to projects we hear about through the grapevine in order to get them more work. At it’s core we really are a creative network for inexperienced AND experienced artists to grow and branch out to new things. Ghoul Girls makes people smile, horror fans are blown away by it and it makes people who aren’t into horror want to learn more about the characters we are doing tributes to. It’s tasteful, but still very modern for pin-up and people like it. We have a steadily growing fan base and the people are tearing at my flesh for more.

What We Need & What You Get

Let me give you the breakdown:

Makeup – We need new makeup for awesome effect like chewed skin, undead flesh, werewolf noses and ears, spooky eyes, scary teeth and full foam latex faces.

Lights – Using shop lights is no longer possible for the caliber of work that we wish to achieve. The shop lights melt and are too bright for our monsters so it isn’t very easy to photograph all the killer details.

Camera Equipment – Our equipment is very old and outdated, we are also in need of a new flash, a light cloud, lenses and especially a new camera body.

Wardrobe/Props – Help us redecorate our dungeon and dress our dolls! Over time a lot of our props and wardrobe have gone missing and we would like to get some of them back and expand to our catalog.

On to the rewards!

All of the Ghoul Girls sets are posted publicly on the website, which is really awesome because just by helping you can see this vision come to life (or undead, whichever). I want to offer those who contribute some very cool and very special rewards that range from “Thank You” postcards, mentions in the future coffee table book, computer wallpaper and even links on the website to cool things like signed prints and old props from past Ghoul Girls shoots.

NO MATTER WHAT….

The project will continue because I am too stubborn to let it die :) . Depending on the funding and support that we receive will help me get me back to shooting faster and will shorten the time it takes to gather all the equipment and materials. The more that Ghoul Girls is funded the better the makeup and equipment.

A New Era of Ghoul Girls

With the fast approaching new year, I have decided to make some changes to the Ghoul Girls website. Restricted and private photosets are now open and free to the public to view without having to log in. This decision was made based on the fact that I want a wider audience to see Ghoul Girls, not just a close nit community. I hope that making them free to view will encourage newbies to want to join our growing art revolution.  We are currently working hard on the 2011 calendar with the hopes that it will be released by early December. Thank you for supporting Ghoul Girls and all our endeavors.
